Torus to launch Outright Sale on latest Cheshire Scheme

07 January 2022

Torus to break ground on £2.7 million Bulkeley development and increase Outright Sale in its housing portfolio.

Mill Lane will see 13 new homes built – available via Affordable Rent and Shared Ownership – but also by Outright Sale, one of the first type of schemes for Torus.

Discussing the scheme, Managing Director of Torus Developments, Chris Bowen said:

“As a Group, we want to be as inclusive as possible and offer home ownership options that are accessible to all. By introducing Outright Sale we are giving people the opportunity to not only own their home outright and get that all-important foot on the housing ladder, but also the security of buying from an established, trusted Group that will reinvest all profits into making their community better.

“As a not-for-profit, growing Outright Sale in our portfolio will enable us to continue creating sustainable communities and build homes that are future-proofed. We are committed to being an enabler of change and will focus on creating communities that support people to live well and thrive, with Mill Lane acting as a catalyst for real investment in Bulkeley.”

After receiving outline approval for Mill Lane in 2018, Torus appointed AG Projects + Consultancy as employers agent and will be starting works on site this month with local North West contractor, M&Y Maintenance and Construction. M&Y operate on a ‘profit for purpose’ ethos and aim to create long lasting impacts in the communities they work in.

Chris continued:

“Receiving outline approval for Mill Lane at such an early stage has been really positive as it has allowed the team to work closely with the local authority, architects and M&Y to ensure Mill Lane complements the local area and becomes a real asset for future residents and the local community.

“We’re delighted to be working with M&Y for the first time and see this project come to life after many years in the pipeline”

Chris Mellor, Head of Construction at M&Y said:

“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract and look forward to working with Torus together for the first time and forming a great partnership. We are fully invested in Torus’ ambition to create communities that support people live well and thrive and Mill Lane will definitely help achieve this with its diverse tenure options.”
