Torus and WBC Welcome Latest Warrington Development

07 February 2024

Celebrating the completion of its latest Warrington scheme Torus and Warrington Borough Council (WBC) officially marked the opening of Marsh Court this week.

The £3.7 million scheme has seen 30 new apartments – all of which are available via Affordable Rent – built in central Warrington and the former site of Chevy’s Sports Bar transformed to meet the needs of the local community. Within walking distance of local amenities, public transport, restaurants, entertainment venues, and close to Warrington town centre, Marsh Court will offer new residents access to the numerous benefits the town centre offers.

Featuring several materials and build techniques to improve the energy efficiency of the building, Marsh Court meets all Future Homes Standards and has been designed in a way specifically aimed at reducing tenants' energy usage and create a home that is cheaper to run. Situated on a main road, consideration was given to noise reduction in Marsh Court’s design and additional acoustic layers have been added to the building to actively minimise noise.

As Torus’ home for five years, Warrington is somewhere the organisation is completely committed to investing in and growing with to meet the current and future needs of its communities.

Discussing the completion of Marsh Court, Chris Bowen, Managing Director at Torus Developments, said:

“I’m incredibly proud of this scheme as not only has it completely reinvigorated the site, but it has also created something that Warrington genuinely needs – more new, affordable homes. Our intention is to continue building schemes such as Marsh Court and provide even more modern, efficient homes and help inspire a sense of community for even more people in Warrington.”

Jan Calland, Torus Housing Services Director, added:

“We are delighted to have developed these much-needed new homes in Warrington, where we are committed to investing in to meet local housing needs.

“This development provides excellent quality homes at an affordable rent and in a fantastic location, well served by local amenities. Providing quality places to live and support for those who need it is central to our approach to developing thriving communities where people are proud to live and can be their best.”

WBC Leader, Councillor Hans Mundry, said:

“I’m delighted that work has been completed on Marsh Court. It will provide a real boost for people looking for a high-quality, affordable home in the heart of our town.

“This fantastic development is the latest success story for Torus in Warrington town centre and supports our ongoing work to deliver the right types of homes, meeting local demand, in all of our communities.”
